Bill Gates Retirement

Well, Bill Gates, the richest man on earth (until recently, that is. He was decrowned by Warren Buffet) and the Chairman of Microsoft Corp, has just stepped down from all the official post in Microsoft Corp and announced his retirement.

During the CES Keynote, he compiled a video showing how his last day would be, and how retirement would be. Well, here’s the video:

It’s great to see that some big time CEO has a sense of humor and mocking himself with jokes with a star-studded short film featuring Matthew McConaughey, George Clooney, BONO (of U2), Steven Spielberg, and etc.

You know what? I would create a film like that and be happy, mocking myself, if I have billions and billions of dollars in my personal vault.

Jeez, I really feel like going for the opening night, and I am pretty sure it will be crowded. Any taker? Who wants to go with me?

Too Late to Apologize

Lyrics for “Too Late to Apologize”
I’m holding on your rope,
Got me ten feet off the ground
And I’m hearing what you say but I just can’t make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down, but wait
You tell me that you’re sorry
Didn’t think I’d turn around, and say…

That it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late

I’d take another chance, take a fall
Take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
But it’s nothing new - yeah yeah

I loved you with the fire red-
Now it’s turning blue, and you say…
“Sorry” like the angel heaven let me think was you
But I’m afraid…

It’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late whoa…..

Bridge (guitar/piano)

It’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, yeah-
I said it’s too late to apologize, yeah-
I’m holding on your rope, got me ten feet off…

300

Yeah yeah, I know its not the latest movie at the moment, and I admit that I had just watched it not long ago. Anyway, if you have yet to watch 300, go watch it in cinema as it will worth the 10 bucks for their astonishing graphics. But if you have a HUGE ass TV (Hi-Def Plasma, for instance) home, go ahead and buy the DVD.

The movie is about Spartan. To make my life easier, I am going to quote Wikipedia.

Following the victories in the Messenian Wars (631 BC), Sparta established itself as a local power in Peloponnesus and the rest of Greece. During the following centuries, Sparta’s reputation as a land-fighting force was unequaled. In 480 BC a small Spartan unit under King Leonidas made a legendary last stand against a massive, invading Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae. One year later, Sparta assembled at full strength and led a Greek alliance against the Persians at Plataea. There, a decisive Greek victory put an end to the Greco-Persian War along with Persian ambition of expanding into Europe. Even though this war was won by a pan-Greek army, credit was given to Sparta, who besides being the protagonist at Thermopylae and Plataea, had been the de facto leader of the entire Greek expedition.

I am not going to dull you in history. The story goes like this…

King Xerxes, king of Persia, was on a quest to conquer the world. After commanding victories, stepping on the enemies like ants and called himself a God, he set his sight on Greek. Xerxes wanted to conquer Greek, so he sent out a messenger to Sparta to persuade King Leonidas, King of Sparta, to surrender without a fight. Spartans, rumored to be descendant of Hercules, would not retreat nor surrender, so they killed the messenger and called war on King Xerxes and Persia.

Unfortunately, the Senior Counselor (called “ghosts”) were very corrupted and after consulting with the oracle, they prohibited King Leonidas from going to the war and wanted Sparta to surrender. Little did King Leonidas know that the counselors were in fact accepting bribes from Persia. Under the strict law of Sparta that no one, not even the King, can go against those ghosts, King Leonidas had no choice but to bring only 300 warriors with him for a “walk”. Truth is that he lead those 300 warriors to the Hot Gate to defend the territory.

Vastly outnumbered (in the movie, the Persia has around 300,000 armies whereas King Leonidas brought along 300 soldiers), and under constant temptation and threat from King Xerxes, King Leonidas did not bow to King Xerxes. In fact, using smart tactics and utilizing their superior fighting skills, they defended very well and killed thousands upon thousands of invader. It was until a mole betrayed King Leonidas that all 300 soldiers were massacred right after King Leonidas injured King Xerxes.

Why do I like this movie? Well, first of all, I like the spirit in the movie. Never retreat, never surrender, even if we are completely outnumbered or when the enemies do have superior skills compared to us. I simply love this spirit and I believe this kind of spirit, or motivation, is what will propel us to success, and that’s the quality I look for when I am hiring.

Furthermore, the director Zack Snyder is doing a great job at capturing the battle scenes, with intense graphic and beautiful sceneries.

Will I recommend this? Hell yeah! I have watched this movie twice myself. So go, don’t wait. Watch it while it is in cinema.

(PS: I have to admit, I bought the DVD and the un-cut version is much better)

::: starlight cinema :::

On Wednesday night SH, Khien and me went to Starlight Cinema @ Sentul Park to watch X-Men III: The Last Stand. SH got us complementary passes and since I had yet to experience Starlight Cinema, I decided to give it a try.
Yes, I didn’t know there is a park in Sentul as well. When they told me the place, I was surprised, and when I reached there only then I knew I have missed the park completely for the past few years. It is in the middle of Sentul, and the impression I had about Sentul was of an old town, a crowded old town. But the park is really nice and I was really impressed.

Anyway, the movie started at 8pm so we didn’t have time for dinner. We rushed there, scanned the area for us to sit (it’s an open-air open-space concept) and found us a good spot beside the console, and then we opened up our plastic raincoat that we got from Jaya Jusco, and put those big posters ontop of the raincoats, and sat down. Yes, there’s no seat provided, so you got to make sure you bring something to sit on, otherwise you will be sitting on the grass.

After that, I was in a dreamlike condition. My hands were in constant motion and I was shifting my sitting position left and right. Yes, I was making enemies with the mosquitos that had been inhabitating that area for the past century and on top of that, I had a sore butt because it wasn’t that comfortable. Finally, the movie ended and I had sore ass and my arms are tattooed with mosquito bites. We collected our trash (we bought some snacks from Jaya Jusco as well) and went off to take dimsum (as our dinner) nearby.

For those of you who has experience with Starlight Cinema, you know what I was talking about. For those who has yet to experience it, here are the list for you:-

  1. Bring an umbrella because you won’t know if its going to rain.
  2. Bring yourself a chair/sitting matt or something, or else you will end up with a sore ass.
  3. Bring lots of snacks and drinks. You might as well as enjoy the movie.
  4. Bring mosquito repellent. I found out that it was a battle that cannot be won by human without using any weapon of your own.
  5. Make sure it is not a movie you have watched before. Otherwise you’ll be suffering big time, as I have also found out.

For those who has yet to experience Starlight Cinema, I highly recommend it because it is a brand new experience and it will worth the money (Okay, I am not too sure about the last part since I did not pay for it).

Starlight Cinema @ Sentul Park, and it ends on August 19th, 2006.

PS: For smoker, you can actually smoke while watching the movie because it is open-air open-space, so no one will stop you. Now go enjoy!

PS#2: Sorry, I have removed the pictures for reasons.

::: the myth of superman :::

Superman is ultra cool.

He is faster than sound, stiffer than titanium (ok, that doesn’t sound right), stronger than volcano and he can have any girls he wants. If you shoot a bullet to his eyes, he won’t even blink and the bullet will just turn into useless piece of junk. When you are in trouble (especially if you are female species), he will fly all over the universe to save you (sorry guys, close your eyes and await for your death). When he orgasm, his orgasmic flow will probably propel the girl to outer space.
Yes, that’s how cool Superman is.

But do you know something not so cool about Superman?

First of all, let’s talk about his shirt. Why is his shirt so tight and looks so uncomfortable?

Because he’s wearing a “S”mall size.

How about his red spandex underwear? I mean, come on! Who in the right mind would wear his underwear outside (not to mention its red color…)? There must be a reason, right?

The reason is that when Superman wants to pee, he can just pull down the red underwear and piss himself an ocean. Or put out a fire. Or put out a whole disrupting volcano. If the suit is ONE piece, how would he piss or poo?

Now, let’s compare the Superman last time and the new Superman. Do you notice any difference? (Beside the look, age, and also height because they are different actor, your stupid fuckwit)

[The new Superman]

[The old Superman]

Last time the Superman used to fly with one arm stretching out, and one arm folding in front of his chest, where else the new Superman flies with both arms stretching out. Do you know why?

Due to advancement in technology, our new Superman is finally driving an auto.

And yes, you got it right. I am bored.

PS: Thanks to Khien and SH, they inspired me the few tips above.

::: crimson room :::

Maria gave me this website to play Crimson Room. In this game, you are to seek the clues, find the items and wisely combined the items you found inside the room and safe (clue) to open the darn door so you can “escape”.

It took me around 30 minutes to figure out everything, but I managed to escape from the room and completed the quest. It can be quite daunting and yet addictive. Go ahead, check it out!

So there you have it. Enjoy!
