On February 21st, 2008, Edison Chen finally appeared in Hong Kong media and gave a press conference in regarding to the nude and sex pictures scandal involving Cecilia Cheung, Bobo Chen, Gillian Chung and many other girls.

In the video, the flash light was amazing. It was almost like he was giving out a press conference in a discotheque or something. Me as a viewer already felt so dizzy just looking at the YouTube, and I wonder how anyone could stand the constant flashing.

Anyway, here is my take.

Why does he need to apologize to the Hong Kong media? To be honest, these Hong Kong reporters will not blame him or be mad at him. See, without Edison Chen, there’s no such saucy news for them to report. And because of all these nude and sex pictures, the reporters got so much work to do that they are digging every where for new sources of information or stalking the lead actresses for more information, or worse, spreading rumors about the leads in this whole scandal.

So don’t apologize to the media, Edison Chen. You did nothing wrong to the media. In fact, you are giving them things to write about, so you are just giving them a chance to do their jobs.

Why does he need to apologize to Gillian Chung, Cecilia Cheung, Bobo Chen, and etc? To be honest, those girls knew that he was taking the pictures, and they should know there should be a risk of these pictures ever leaked. I mean, stop being naive, people. If you allow someone else to take a naked picture of yourself, or take picture of you having sex, then you should be prepared that one day these pictures might fall into the wrong hand and your face, tits, the blowjob that you are giving, will be all over the internet.

So you don’t have to apologize to the girls (or if you prefer, victims).

Why does he need to apologize to the people of Hong Kong? I know there are many people idolizing celebrities and Edison has not been setting as a good example. But even before these nude and sex pictures were leaked, I am very sure that there are millions of youngsters in Hong Kong taking naked pictures of themselves having sex with their partners. In fact, I see the leaked pictures of Edison Chen with Cecilia Cheung, Gillian Chung and Bobo Chen as a blessing in disguise; the girls will be more careful in the future as not to allow their boyfriends to take pictures of them having sex, or if they must take these kind of pictures, they will really safe keep the files and not allowing anyone to get near it.

So you don’t have to apologize to the people of Hong Kong, Edison Chen. You are only teaching these brainless youngsters whom idolize celebrities blindly a good lesson.

Maybe you want to keep the score, but is it really that necessary? I mean, there are many other ways to keep the score, right?

And if you really want to apologize, apologize to the fact that you were stupid enough not to keep those files safe. Apologize for being stupid. Apologize for being careless. You should have kept those files in a portable hard drive or something and protect the files with triple layer password or something.
