I have been in the office since 9am today, and I have been working on a few things. First off, I completed one of the proposals for a customer of mine. And then, I was proof-reading it and converting the Word Document to PDF format.
Now, I simply don’t understand why those fucking programmers just can’t make the software to talk to each other. On my macbook, the Microsoft Word will convert the file to PDF (built-in PDF converter), but I run into problems with I have some Landscape pages (I have a lot of those tables, like accounting tables, time table, etc in my proposal). When I convert them, it will section those Landscape pages to a separate file. So let’s say you have 20 pages of Doc, and you have 3 tables, then the software will churn out 7 separate PDF files (the normal section before the first table is 1 file, the landscape page is 1 file, then after that the normal page will be another file before the next table, get it?)
After asking my business partner to convert them properly, I proceeded the printing process. See, nowadays people tare talking about paper-less work environment. I can tell you that this is completely bull-crap.
See, as long as the law doesn’t accept digital signature as an official signature, there is no way we can get away with printing out those documents on paper. The proposal contains Non-Disclosure Agreement so how are we going to get away with that if we don’t print it out?
And here comes another problem. It seems like my inkjet printer has no memory at all so printing the document out (20 odd pages) will take, well, forever. After printing 2 lines of text, the printer head will go back to the position, take a fag, read some porno mag, and rest a bit before printing the next 2 lines of text. That’s why I am still here, waiting for the fucking printer to get it done. As of now, I still have 14 pages to go…
Of course, another problem is that my macbook doesn’t have enough memory. It is the factory-default 512MB (yeah I know, I know) and now my laptop feels like the pre-historic Pentium 200MHz era computer. The younger generation will not understand the feeling, but for those of us who has gone through it, it is actually something like this; when the computer is lagging, and when you type really fast, the words will not appear on the screen. The cursor will blink, blink, blink and then BAMP! The words started to appear really fast, like a fucking typewriter.
Anyway, I am waiting for the print job to be done so that I can go home, and maybe take my really late dinner. And I now have a new WishList:
- Upgrade the laptop memory to 2GB
- Purchase a Color Laser Printer with huge ass memory
- Get a really sexy secretary to do most of these daunting jobs.
So if you will excuse me, I have to go back to wait for my HP Inkjet to finish smoking his weed and start to print the rest of the document out.
