My New Toy at Rant & Raves

Yup! I just got a new toy!

More information on the toy I just got after the jump.

I know, I know! You would probably say that it has been out in the U.S. for like 3 months or more, and there are a total of more than 3 millions iPhone sold. So you would probably say it is not a new gadget and it is an ancient news. But let’s look at it this way…

First of all, I am in Malaysia and there is no official distribution in Malaysia. Secondly, the number of iPhone in Malaysia is relatively low (very, very low if you compare to the likes of Nokia,Samsung and etc. But that’s not the point, isn’t it?). Thirdly, because it is difficult to get one, and bundle with the beautiful interface, it makes one special gadget to own.

I have visited many websites like iPhone Dev Team and Gizmodo on how to unlock the iPhone to work with the mobile carrier in Malaysia.

You see, Apple has developed the iPhone to work with A&T& and pretty much shut everyone else out. If you want an iPhone without going through the unlocking process, you have to sign up with AT&T.

My advice to Apple and Steve Jobs (just in case you don’t know, Stevie boy here is the CEO of Apple) is that if you want to sell hundreds of millions iPhone, stop forcing your potential to sign up with AT&T. You said the reasoning behind this move is to develop the ground-breaking Visual Voicemail features. That’s fucking bullshit. We don’t need that. Just a plain old voicemail will do. So please stop fucking with your potential customers. Look at your very own iPod. Why are you selling hundred millions of that little sucker? That’s because you don’t force your consumer to tie them up with a 2 years contract. And your newly release Firmware 1.1.1 has rendered many iPhones useless.

Anyway, I will proceed with my own unlocking process. Unfortunately, I heard that using iPhones and Maxis will have Call-In problems. Let me try it out and see how it goes.

Anyway, are you jealous now? You better be
