Ijok: money can buy victory

It is a sad truth but it is clearly demonstrated that money does buy victory in election.

Barisan National’s K.Parthiban, 38, a teacher and not a person with deep political influence and background, defeated Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, 61, of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) with a majority of 1,850 votes, 201 more than the majority garnered in the last general election.

Let’s see… This is strictly not a data polling from the internet. This is just a short summary of what were being offered on the table.

Barisan National’s offer:
1. RM 3.5 million for mosques, suraus, and schools.
2. RM 36 million for “various projects” by the Selangor Government.
3. New lamp posts.
4. New paved road.
5. RM200,000 for new Islamic centre.

Opposition party:
1. Ijok Development Centre to look into the community’s socio-economic and education needs.

Fuck! No wonder the opposition party failed. Who the fuck need a development centre to merely looking into the community’s socio-economic and education needs. Hell, that is a small sum of money to spend. Who needs to spend money just to look into a matter? No, its basically free. No, people love big numbers! Mega projects! Big-ass developments! Who the fuck is interested in looking into the socio-economic and education needs?

Now, after some deep analysis, the conclusion is simple: The one with longer list of items wins. BN 6: Opposition 1.

Yup, whoever can spend bigger sum of money for “various projects and development”, add a twist of threats like “if you vote the other way, you will get nothing. So be careful of who you are voting for,” will guarantee victory. Still not sure? Look at the list above. BN is spending more than RM40 million for this election? PKR? A paltry Ijok Development Centre to “look into socio-economic and education needs.”

Alright, I know I am not fair. I don’t remember all the details and I might miss out a few things. Feel free to add it to the list in comments if you will.

So yeah, it is proven that money can buy victory, even in election.

This is just so sad. That’s why I hated Chelsea because it has proven that money can ensure victory in champion’s league.

Anyway, they can deny it all they want, but all of us know that there is a general election coming up this year. The Machap and Ijok by-elections are being used as a gauge to see how the people are responding to the BN and the leaders after all the negative news (look at Lim Kit Siang’s blog here or Rocky Bru’s blog here. I am not going into details and repeat what others had written). Furthermore, the Ijok by-election is also being used as an instrument to gauge the biggest threat of Barisan National: Anwar Ibrahim.

By the way, speculation has it that if there is a general election, then prices for toll, petrol and other items will increase next year. Why there is no petrol price increase this year? How come the North-South highway is being paved vigorously where no news of price increase being announced?

Yup, I know. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or genius to figure that out. But it helps if you are above-average smart.

Once the general election is over, and when those in charge won by big margin, they can increase prices as they want and we are fucked. Why? Because the next general election will not happen in the next 4 years. Yeah, we as taxpayer paid the campaign, paid their salaries, and then after voting them into office, then we are screwed from behind and we got to pay higher price for everything.

Did I mention that Anwar Ibrahim will be eligible for taking seats for election next year after the 5 years banned term?

Yup, as I said, it doesn’t take a genius to see things.

Anyway, it is only my speculation. I have no proof or whatsoever.

the fat bitch

Okay, if you happen to be fat and you are a female, always remember that I am talking about someone else fatter, so its not you. Yup, you are definitely not fat.

The other day when I was in a hurry to leave the office to go somewhere for a meeting, a fat bitch zoomed by me in a green Waja. At first I didn’t think much about her and I was busy making a phone call before I drove off. When I was done with the phone call, engaged first gear to drive off, I saw her green Waja parallel parked not far from me.

I have no qualm with people parallel park (or so-called illegal parking). But the problem is, the parking lot was very empty and there were a lot of space available. I looked at her, and I saw her opening the trunk, took something out and walked into a shop nearby. I thought to myself, “Ahh! A fat delivery bitch whom blocking my way.” I looked at the space and it was really tight, and since I reverse park, it was almost impossible for me to go out (and it’s a one-way traffic road too).

That fucking bitch just walked off even after my blazing stare, and she didn’t give a shit about me having trouble going off from my parking spot. I was really pissed, and I thought of getting out of my car, use the car lock that I bought from Ace Hardware and shattered the windshield of that bitch’s car. But I resisted the temptation, because (1) my office is just right up there so she could find me easily, (2) she got such a fat ass that if she were to sit on me, I don’t think I could survive under that kind of pressure, and (3) the restaurant owner next door saw it and walked over to her and asked her to move her fat ass ugly car.

But clearly, the fat bitch gave the restaurant owner a piece of her mind as I saw her waving her hands animatedly, with the soggy fat around her arms flapping like our national flag. Yup, she wasn’t going to move her fat ass until she’s done with her things, and she didn’t fuck care about someone else. Then a moment of brilliance stroke me, at that precise moment. I thought of going down, using my boyish charm and good look to seduce her, and make her move her stupid car away so I can go on with my journey. I took a deep breath before I were to get off my car to talk to her, and then I saw her again, and I choke myself with the deep breath that I took and I almost puke.

Holy shit, that is the ugliest fucking fat bitch I have ever seen in my life.

So quietly, I maneuver the car with a 9 point turn, and get off the tight spot without bothering her. I think I would puke even if she is just within my sight, so I was better off not confronting her or got near her.

Now, if you think you are fat (I will definitely not think that way of my dearest reader), you can avoid to be in this category by (1) run 20 km per day and eat nothing but vegetable for the rest of your life to keep in Size 2 or below, or (2) be nice and courteous so people around you like respect you and be nice to you.

The choice is yours.

Now I am going to run my 20 km for today and eat my share of vegetable.

Enough of Ijok or any by-election.

There has been a lot of hype and news coverage about Ijok until I couldn’t resist the itch to write a few post about it [here, here and here].

Clearly, my position is not to support any of the participating parties. Yup, I am one of the non-registered-but-eligible voters. I don’t take stand on any party and I do not support any political party.

The reason why I wrote about Ijok, or the Machap by-election is because the hype it created and I felt truly disturbed by the development.

Finger pointing, shouting at each other, throwing water bottles, shouting “No to Money Politics” but doing otherwise, and all that crap. Where is the mantra of To server the people, to serve the country. To make better life for all the people of the country. I am really sorry, I just do see that in the politicians nowadays.

It is extremely disappointing on the political development of the country. It is so disappointing that I vow to myself not to write anything regarding politics, or election (but will write something about erection).

Another shot at Ijok: clean politics?

Everyone is shouting, “Say no to money politics!” and more interesting, “Total transparency! Fight Corruption!”

Interesting.

But what’s more interesting is that Najib announces RM3.5m for mosques, suraus, schools in Kg Jaya Setia. The original article is from The Sun, and I took the liberty to reproduce the article below.

Najib announces RM3.5m for mosques, suraus, schools in Kg Jaya Setia

Maria J. Dass
The Sun
BATANG BERJUNTAI (April 23, 2007): The Barisan National (BN) is leaving nothing to chance in Kampung Jaya Setia within the Ijok constituency.

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced a special RM3.5 million allocation from the Prime Minister’s Department for seven mosques, 16 suraus and six schools for the constituency.

“Although there has not been any request for these but we feel that we need to do this as a sign of the BN’s commitment,” he said during a ceramah in Kampung Jaya Setia.

Even though the BN won the Ijok state seat in the 2004 elections, the party lost in Kampung Jaya Setia to Parti Keadilan Rakyat by 50 votes.

Kampung Jaya Setia is a traditional village of 100% Malay voters, with a host of issues, including land grants, and the lack of amenities such as water and electricity. Some houses in the area still depend on well and rain water for washing, drinking and cooking.

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo said although the opposition expects 70% of the youths in Kampung Jaya Setia to vote for Keadilan, he was confident they would vote for the BN.

Najib, meanwhile, charged that the opposition’s campaign tactics of “spreading rumours and slander” was akin to following the laws of the jungle, and was unIslamic.

“I know Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim’s story and if I start, he will slump down or have to lean on something,” said Najib.

“Why did he leave Umno? It was because he could not buy the shares he wanted. He left and joined Keadilan because of this, not because he wants to serve in Ijok,” he said.

“Division heads in this area also tell me he is a very stingy man and if he has RM10 million, I will cut off my small finger if he uses his money for Ijok,” said Najib, adding that it was difficult for the public to meet up with an important man such as a “Tan Sri”.

Later, when asked to comment on allegations that he left Umno because he could not obtain shares, Khalid said: “That’s interesting, Umno is giving out shares?”

“I left Umno to become CEO of Guthrie and I decided to leave because it is not easy being both a corporate man and in politics because sometimes, one has to make biased deisions,” he said.

“As a corporate man, I have to make decisions based on what is best for shareholders and I cannot be biased,” he added.

“If Umno has shares and wants to offer it to us, then we are more than happy to accept as citizens of Malaysia, with a certain level of dignity and maturity,” said Khalid.

He was speaking to reporters after presenting a development plan for Ijok which includes the setting up of an Ijok Development Centre to look into the community’s socio-economic and education needs.

The community division is to act as a conduit for the people to voice their concerns, the economic division is to facilitate activities in Ijok and provide small scale economic development plans, while the education division is to concentrate on funding and aiding students to excel in their studies, and industry linked education for youths, unemployed and adults to upgrade their skills and knowledge.

“Although there has not been any request for these but we feel that we need to do this as a sign of the BN’s commitment,” our DPM Najib said.

Wow! Since when the BN has decided to be some generous and built all the mosques, suraus, and schools? How about temples and churches? I don’t believe there is any formal request for these as well. We can definitely build a few more temples and churches for the other racial and religion citizen. There is nothing wrong with that idea, right? Since we are a multi-cultural country with the citizens embracing each others. So why no announcement on building new temples and churches?

Also, DPM Najib put up an allegation against Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim that he was stingy and he would cut his small finger if the Tan Sri uses his own money for Ijok. That’s really mature and professional. That should definitely present our country’s politicians as matured and professional. Now, I wonder if the Tan Sri has proof to show that he forked out money for Ijok, will our DPM live up to his promise?

Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim was opening the Ijok Development Center to look into the community’s socio-economic and education needs. Great job! But why now? Why didn’t you open such development center months, if not years, earlier?

Another more interesting news from The Star [here]. Our DPM Najib said, “Don’t fall for opposition’s ploy.

In summary, he said:
1. the people would miss out on a lot of development between now and the next general election should they vote the opposition.
2. only the Barisan Nasional had the capability to carry out development.
3. PKR had won seats before but the candidates were unable to carry out any meaningful development as they lacked the backing.
4. DPM Najib said funds were being set aside to carry out development projects and also to help the poor.

Now, that sounds like a threat to the voters of Ijok. The underlying message is, “Vote for BN or you are fucked. If you vote for the opposition party, all the funds allocated for the development will vanish, and the BN will not provide any backing to the opposition party to do any development and projects. So vote for BN.”

On a totally unrelated topic, Wikipedia has a very interesting “definition” of Altantuya Shaaribuu here. Hint: Check out the Trivia part, especially the last paragraph.

a letter to Ijok opposition party

Last night I was sitting on the couch reading a book, and I had the TV turn on to provide some background noise. The news was about the Ijok by-election (again) and suddenly a thought hit me like a lightning. Yes, it is about the Ijok, something I wrote here, or the most recent Machap by-election.

In regardless of who came out as the winner of these by-elections, the real winners are the people of Ijok (or Machap, on the most recent by-election). So I sat down, and started to write a thank-you letter.

To Whom It May Concern,

Thank you for participating in this by-election. Without you, the opposition party, participated in this by-election, our town will not get the development projects and progress bought on by the government. Without your participation, the government will not promise a speedy construction work start “within 2 weeks” and those contractors not doing a good job will be sacked.

Yes, we haven’t seen any real construction being done to our town for more than 50 years, so this is definitely a fresh start. No matter who will win this by-election, the real winner is the people of this town.

By far and large, our town is mostly forgotten by civilization and 99% of the Malaysia population do not know the name of our town. I don’t even remember seeing the the name of our town in the Malaysia map. So with this by-election, we get publicity so huge that it was out of this world. Now, almost every newspaper articles, the broadcast TV news, and blogs (including online news site) are mentioning Ijok (or Machap) almost everyday. So thank you very much.

Now the business is very good in our town. The people, including supporters, politicians, reporters and curious people are flooding our town like a wild thunderstorm, and they normally purchase a lot of food, water, and other daily essentials. The report has shown that local business has surged 1,208% compare to normal days, even during Chinese New Year, Hari Raya or Deepavali.

Without your participation, our town will not get the news coverage more frequent than Paris Hilton, and we will not get the announcement of those mega projects. Without your participation, our local business will continue to struggle, and the parking lots will not be filled to the maximum (even the shoulders of our roads have to accommodate the incoming traffic!). Without your participation, the people will just have to accept a walk-in victory and we will not see our names in the news, the mega projects and the potential job opportunities around. So again, please accept our most sincere heart felt thank you from the people of the town.

Furthermore, we would like to express our condolences to the now-deceased Wakil Raykat’s family members. The passing of the Wakil Rakyat is a big loss to all of us, and we feel extremely sad for his passing. He was a well loved people’s people. But we would also like to express our gratitude because without all this, a by-election will not happen and our town will not receive such mega projects and development.

Again, thank you for your participation.

Yours Faithfully,
The People

Update: 23/04/2007 - 5:46pm
NOTE: In no way that I am representing the people of Ijok or Machap. This thank-you letter is as fiction-ness as Star Wars or Paris Hilton. There’s no absolute right or wrong, and the power to see things as it is is in your hand. So you should decide what is right or wrong.

Update: 23/04/2007 - 6:29pm
The Start reported that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that Fighting corruption a national mission. Isn’t that a bit of an irony? I mean, our DPM was quoted saying that the people of the country is asking for more transparency, but lately we all don’t see lots of transparency. Hell, there’s not even much information revealed.

by election? buy election?

I don’t really read newspaper nowadays, as I always go to the news website for latest news. I will only watch TV news once in a while, ONLY when I am bored.

Lately the attention of the buy by elections of Ijok (by the way, where the hell is this place? I have no frigging idea there is such a place) is escalating to new high when the news reports on the TV news are reporting it on daily basis, with latest development and all that crap. Selangor Govt Allocates RM36 Mln For Projects In Ijok
General
April 18, 2007 15:52 PM
KUALA SELANGOR, April 18 (Bernama) — The Selangor government has allocated RM36 million for various development projects to be implemented within these two weeks in Ijok.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo said these involved the upgrading of public facilities such as road widening and resurfacing works as well as constructing drains and lighting up major roads.

“All of them will start immediately. We have chosen the contractors,” he said at a meet-the-people session here.

Tomorrow is the nomination for the Ijok state by-election while polling is on April 28. The seat fell vacant following the death of BN assemblyman Datuk K.Sivalingam in Chennai, India, from heart failure on April 4.

The Barisan Nasional has named Tanjung Karang MIC secretary K.Parthiban, 38, as its candidate while Parti Keadilan Rakyat is betting on former Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Kumpulan Guthrie chief executive officer Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, 61.

Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir said the projects were not aimed to fish for votes as claimed by the opposition as they had been planned by the state government for quite some time.

He urged the contractors involved to complete the projects as soon as possible, warning that the contracts would be awarded to other parties if they failed to do so.

– BERNAMA

The by-election happens when the previous assemblyman, or what I like to call “person-in-charge”, so the seat to govern that place is empty. So the by-election is suppose to find a replacement by organizing a vote of the public.

Now, here is the funny thing that I notice. A fairly unknown place on the map got RM36 million (That’s roughly USD 10.3 million) in new projects and development right before the by-election and during the by-election candidates were pulling votes. But prior to those elections or by-elections, there was no mentioning about any projects, and basically those small towns were neglected and abandoned. Here comes an election, or by-election, then the politicians started pouring into the town to shake their hands, attending lunches at the local families, sharing “great” times with the locals, carrying the young babies like the most precious things, and announcing up-and-coming projects to “be implemented within 2 weeks”. [Refer to the Bernama post blockquote above] Yup, they want to show that they care, during the elections and by-elections.

I find that hilarious.

And ironic, nonetheless.

Sadly, it’s the same thing for those opposition parties, except announcing mega projects.

I admit that I do not find the link of the promise of BN, the national biggest political party and definitely the one in charge, or taiko, for the Machap. But I think I have read something about BN promising some mega projects in the tens of millions range for the small town’s future development.

In one of the interviews with the reporters during the Machap by-election, our Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Najib said, “Think about your future and don’t be influenced by emotions,” . Okay, I find this funny, but maybe that’s because I was reading in between the lines, so I might have distorted the view of DPM. Or the reporter has fucked up and distorted the real meaning of the title. But from whichever way I see the title, I saw the DPM was basically saying, “Don’t fuck with us. If you don’t vote us, we will cancel all the projects and development of this town and let all of you fuckers rot in hell.” (Okay, that is a wee bit of exaggeration but it is around that area).

I thought the Prime Minister, Datuk Abdullah Badawi (or sometimes fondly referred to as Pak Lah), declared that he is all out on war against money politics? Yet how can he approve this kind of decision just prior to the by-election?

I seriously don’t know how politic works. But from the way I see it, this is a form of money politics, promising those mega projects for the town whereas the opposition parties, being the smaller outfit and not controlling the country’s budget, cannot promise that kind of mega projects.

Of course, anyone can feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I just have no idea how the politics work in Malaysia.

stupid americans?

There was a talk about how stupid Americans are, and there are a lot of videos that you can find from YouTube to “support the claim”.

Now, from what I know, the “reporters”, or in some case, comedian-talk show host like Jay Leno needed some more interesting piece to entertain their audience, so they interviewed lots of people, and edit the piece to show only those who give wrong, or stupid answer. Those interviews will draw a lot of laughter from the audience, and who the fuck will be interested in watching an interview where people answered correctly?

Of course, with big scissors and careful knife (well, nowadays they are using computer to edit the film), the editors can just edit the interviews to suit the point of views of the reporters. I bet there are a lot of right answers, but they were removed from the final product film so the reporter can make a point. That is called biased reporting.

Let’s be honest with ourselves. No matter which country you are talking about, I bet there are bunch of people not knowing much about the world because they simply don’t give a crap about it. I am not siding anyone, and even though I have stayed in U.S. for many years, I am giving my thoughts and opinions about it.

In U.S., most of the normal citizens don’t give a rat ass about other people, they are minding their own business and doing what they think is important. Besides, some of them are simply not interested about the rest of the world, just like I can’t force you to have interest in fishing, racing, or drinking. It is just a personal reference. So at the end, they don’t know much about the rest of the world. But I have met some young guys who know a lot about everything, and it is amazing at how they harvest the knowledge from books, internet, and magazines.

Besides, if you go to Japan or Hong Kong, they are the same (I have stayed in those places for a substantial period of time to draw this conclusion). Yes, some might call them arrogant, but in more advanced countries, the citizens are so heavily buried in life that they got million things to worry about, like work, financial situation, and other craps, so they don’t even have time to read about what is happening around the world.

So let’s not stereotype.

PS: One advice: Don’t try to make this kind of video in Malaysia. You will be sued for inflammatory comment or jailed for breaching the Internal Security Act.

lack of activities

It has been raining cats and dogs lately, especially around evening time.

The traffic is very bad, a normal scene after a slight rain. Yup, something is wrong with all those drivers. Just a drizzle and traffic jam everywhere.

I have been plagued by work, heavy workload. There are endless things to do, and there are just not enough time. It doesn’t help that I am short on manpower to help me out, so there are a lot of things that require my full attention. Not to mention that I am doing a lot of corporate sales to increase revenues but I shan’t bore you with the details.

Anyway, life is okay, but busy. So from now on, I will not update the blog as frequent as it was. Maybe there will be a post or two in a week, or maybe less.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but if you want to contact me, feel free to do so. My email is adrianang(dot)net(at)gmail(dot)com. (No spam please)

up close and really, i mean really, personal

Today I had just read a news from BBC News.

Apparently the Health Ministry of India has decided to get really personal with all the female civil servants (that is female working in government sector) to “evaluate” their fitness level. The Health Ministry Department has requested that all female civil servant to complete a form (for performance appraisal purpose) that include “detailed information of the menstrual cycle and LMP (Last Menstrual Period)” to “help evaluate the officer’s fitness” [BBC News report is available here].

Damn, how come I didn’t think of that? So what’s next? Ask the male civil servant their FMC* and LMP*? Do they also need to reveal when was the last time they had a constipation?

It is amazing how stupid some people can be. This is a complete joke and no wonder a lot of those female civil servants are bitching about the form. I would suggest to these female civil servant in India to use the following reply:

My menstrual cycle normally comes once a month. For the first few days, it bleeds like my salary and only lasted few days. During normal day it is mostly moist and not bleeding because the menstrual is running low, just like my salary. Hopefully that my menstrual cycle will come next month, just like my salary.

FMC = Frequent Masturbation Cycle
LMP = Last Masturbation Period

mother care

Yesterday Maria and I went over to the The Curve for dinner, and then we went on for some shopping. Maria decided to drop by Mother Care at The Curve and she instantly went on to the toys section.

The sales girl, being very helpful, walked to us and asked us if we needed any help.

Salesgirl: “Hi! May I help you?”
Maria: “No. We are just looking.”
Salesgirl: [obviously not giving up] “Are you looking for gifts or for your own children?”
Maria: [looked at me] “For our own.”
Salesgirl: “Oh! How old is your son or daughter?”
Maria: “Almost 3…”
Salesgirl: “Great! Can I recommend some toys suitable for 3 years old?”
Maria: “Actually, I am looking at this… May I know if this toy can sustain heavy biting?”
Salesgirl: “Excuse me?”
Maria: “I am wondering if this toy is durable under heavy biting.”
Salesgirl: “Uhmm… Miss, this is a toy, so it is not suitable for biting.”

I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I walked away while laughing. Maria was struggling to keep a straight face, and failed miserably.

Let me declare that Maria wasn’t hit by the deep maternity sense, nor she was suddenly thinking of babies. She was just looking for toys for Fluffy [more on Fluffy here and here].

Maria: “Sorry. Actually I am looking for a toy for my dog.”
Salesgirl: “Oh.. uhmmm… er… this is a baby toy.”
Maria: “Okay… thanks.”
