It is a sad truth but it is clearly demonstrated that money does buy victory in election.
Barisan National’s K.Parthiban, 38, a teacher and not a person with deep political influence and background, defeated Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, 61, of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) with a majority of 1,850 votes, 201 more than the majority garnered in the last general election.
Let’s see… This is strictly not a data polling from the internet. This is just a short summary of what were being offered on the table.
Barisan National’s offer:
1. RM 3.5 million for mosques, suraus, and schools.
2. RM 36 million for “various projects” by the Selangor Government.
3. New lamp posts.
4. New paved road.
5. RM200,000 for new Islamic centre.
Opposition party:
1. Ijok Development Centre to look into the community’s socio-economic and education needs.
Fuck! No wonder the opposition party failed. Who the fuck need a development centre to merely looking into the community’s socio-economic and education needs. Hell, that is a small sum of money to spend. Who needs to spend money just to look into a matter? No, its basically free. No, people love big numbers! Mega projects! Big-ass developments! Who the fuck is interested in looking into the socio-economic and education needs?
Now, after some deep analysis, the conclusion is simple: The one with longer list of items wins. BN 6: Opposition 1.
Yup, whoever can spend bigger sum of money for “various projects and development”, add a twist of threats like “if you vote the other way, you will get nothing. So be careful of who you are voting for,” will guarantee victory. Still not sure? Look at the list above. BN is spending more than RM40 million for this election? PKR? A paltry Ijok Development Centre to “look into socio-economic and education needs.”
Alright, I know I am not fair. I don’t remember all the details and I might miss out a few things. Feel free to add it to the list in comments if you will.
So yeah, it is proven that money can buy victory, even in election.
This is just so sad. That’s why I hated Chelsea because it has proven that money can ensure victory in champion’s league.
Anyway, they can deny it all they want, but all of us know that there is a general election coming up this year. The Machap and Ijok by-elections are being used as a gauge to see how the people are responding to the BN and the leaders after all the negative news (look at Lim Kit Siang’s blog here or Rocky Bru’s blog here. I am not going into details and repeat what others had written). Furthermore, the Ijok by-election is also being used as an instrument to gauge the biggest threat of Barisan National: Anwar Ibrahim.
By the way, speculation has it that if there is a general election, then prices for toll, petrol and other items will increase next year. Why there is no petrol price increase this year? How come the North-South highway is being paved vigorously where no news of price increase being announced?
Yup, I know. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or genius to figure that out. But it helps if you are above-average smart.
Once the general election is over, and when those in charge won by big margin, they can increase prices as they want and we are fucked. Why? Because the next general election will not happen in the next 4 years. Yeah, we as taxpayer paid the campaign, paid their salaries, and then after voting them into office, then we are screwed from behind and we got to pay higher price for everything.
Did I mention that Anwar Ibrahim will be eligible for taking seats for election next year after the 5 years banned term?
Yup, as I said, it doesn’t take a genius to see things.
Anyway, it is only my speculation. I have no proof or whatsoever.
