::: last day :::

Today is the last day of March (shuttup! I know its obvious and I can hear that you are bitching about me stating the obvious). Anyway, let me elaborate a bit.

Of all the last day of the month that I have went through, today somehow is a bit different. I am not sure to explain it in detail, but it feels like the end of something, and tomorrow will be the beginning of something (shuttup! I know I am stating the obvious, but let me explain!). Well, for me, it feels like tomorrow is a start of a new life for me. I am not sure why I have this feeling, maybe because my subconscious mind has developed a clear picture of a future for me (its good to relax a bit once awhile so your subconscious mind will open up and develop on its own).

I feel that tomorrow, I will morph into a butterfly, starting a new phase/stage of life, and the journey ahead is very different from what I have been experiencing. It might be a very tough journey ahead, fill with hardship, tears, blood, and sweat, but I do feel that the transformation is worth all these efforts in order to reach “there”.

I don’t know why I have these feelings, so I will spend some time thinking about it and try to find out what is this about. Maybe my inner conscious is telling me that it is time for the next stage, and move on to my dreams.

::: positive vs pessimistic :::

The other day I met someone who has a very pessimistic thinking. He is so pessimistic that he can think it as the end of the world, and go home and sleep on it because he will tell you that it doesn’t matter what he’s doing. He’s going to die anyway.

Well, I am not saying that being pessimistic is bad. In contrarary, I would say pessimistic, at certain level, is more helpful than being pure optimistic.

First, when we are pessimistic, we can think of how the things can go wrong. For example, if you are launching a new product, you can imagine how the marketing plan didn’t go through as planned, or how the launch will flop. But after thinking like this for a while, you can start to be a bit optimistic and positive and think of how to overcome those situations. At the end, you will have a back-up plan on how to counter those hard to solve problems.

Being positive doesn’t mean that we can change the course of the circumstances or anything in life, but we can change ourself and the people around us. For example, if you spill your coffee on your new shirt, will you jump around and curse like a mad man? For those who are positive thinking, they will wipe the coffee off, and remain calm while cleaning the stain. We have control on our emotion reaction towards circumstances, so we should remain positive and know what is our next move.

Anyway, there was a quote I saw on a book that I feel I should share with you.

“If you understand that you have control of your actions and reactions, you not only get better results, but you also have a much better journey through life. Isn’t it better to go through life with the knowledge and belief that you are not a victim of circumstances, but are in control of your choices?” - Brian Sher

::: mad fans :::

For some reasons, I think I had a stalker or a mad fan following me lately. He even posted a lot of comment on one of my blogs.

His comment:

::: pms :::

Well, pms is a very mysterious things.

First of all, let me clarify that I am not a woman/female so I won’t really understand how it feels like to have pms or claim that I am an expert on it.

I am so amazed because I wonder how come it can change a woman’s mood in an instant. I have seen grouchy, gloomy, touchy, furious, violent, and mad woman behavior because of pms. Oh yeah, I had seen pms-fueled woman beating the shit out of a hunkly muscular dude because that dude didn’t wash his fair in the morning. Oh yeah! I have experienced a few pms-related incident that caused me physical harm and was hospitalized for 3 months. Ok, the hospital thing is a bullshit.

Anyway, today I was being attacked by a serious pms case for no apparent reasons. I came in, and then, out of nowhere, I was hit up and down, left and right, inside out for no reasons at all. Oh well, this is just a reminder to myself that women can have post-pms pms. I remember there was another pms attack not too long ago (just last week?)….

Oh well, I’m outta here for my very own safety…

::: the mysterious running man :::

This morning when I was on the Jalan Kemajuan (in front of PJ Hilton Hotel), the traffic was pretty heavy and a lot of people were driving faster than usual because they were late for work(?)

Anyway, I saw something interesting. Before I go into the story, let me just define what is “fore-arm crutches”. Fore-arm crutches, as shown in the picture, is a device to assist walking for disable person or people with leg problems.

Anyway, when I was going at a pretty high speed along Jalan Kemajuan, I saw this guy, raising both of his hands, the fore-arm crutches still attached to his arms, running across the street right in front of me. Can you imagine the stunned look on my face? I stopped my car as to prevent myself from running into him and then he will really need the fore-arm crutches for the rest of his life.

I whipped out my phone and tried to snap a picture of that guy running. Unfortunately, he is as fast as a lightning and by the time my camera was ready, he was nowhere near to be seen. (Mind you, my Palm Treo650 can launch the camera really quick)

Damn, I wish I can run that fast.

So guys, if you see any guy with fore-arm crutches around PJ Hilton area, make sure you get your camera ready and snap a picture of that dude (ONLY if he runs across the street) for me if you can. Oh! Just in case if he begs, make sure you break his legs before you give him a dime.

::: baby talk :::

The following conversation happened between Maria and Kai Ling, my 3 1/2 years old niece.

Kai Ling: “Mommy, ah-yee (translation: aunt, my older sis), and ah-gu (translation: uncle, that would be me) went to visit wa-gong (translation: grandfather-in-law, my father). DIE already one…” [emphasize DIE somemore]

Maria: “Huh? Kai Ling, don’t say die. wa-gong passed away.”

Kai Ling” “Huh? Oh okay…”

Maria: “ah-yee and ah-gu went to pray your wa-gong”

Kai Ling:[raise voice] “No! No one play with him!”

Maria: [after 3 seconds pause] “Erm… Pray (clapsed both hand to show the praying sign), not play..”

Kai Ling: [nodding] “Oh! Ya lor… no one want to play with wa-gong”

Maria: “…..”

::: qing ming :::

NOTE: This might seem as a religious post but its not. This is just what happened.

Qing Ming, a Chinese word meaning the festive of visiting your loved ones graves. Every year, according to proper Chinese lunar month, there is this particular day that we can “request” the doorman (doorman of the heaven’s gate) to open the door for our loved ones so that we can provide food, money, and other things to them.

The actual date for Qing Ming is April 5th 2006 (I think), and its a working day. Normally we shift the date earlier to pray for our ancestors because it will be very packed on the actual date, or when the actual date falls into working days. This time around, we had decided to run the ceremony today to better suit our hectic schedule. During the preperation last night, my mom was asking us to handle all the praying task and the responsibilities fell onto my shoulder, as I am the only son in the family. Unfortunately, I didn’t know most of the lingo and all the “proper schedule”. My understanding of “proper praying” is like what I had watched on the TV, running around the table, spitting the Chinese wine on the table to create a blaze, burn the fu (translation: duno how to translate this. It is a yellow piece of parchment and those gifted ones will write on it with red ink and it is suppose to bear some kind of power), and dancing with a wooden sword. So imagine what kind of hard time I was having last night.

Frustrated, my mom decided last night that she won’t be joining us in the morning for the prayer because she wanted to force me to learn so that when she pass-on I will be able to handle it. I mean, doh! She’s still young and why worry about this kind of thing so much?

So I told her that on the day she pass-on, I will convert myself to Christianity so no need to pray already. Of course she glared at me for a few seconds, and then all of us burst into laughter.

Anyway, this morning I had to bear all the responsibilities to run the ceremony as smooth as possible but luckily my sisters do not know much as well, so we ran through it quickly and maybe we had skipped a few things along the way, but who cares? What we believe is that our heart and sincerity is the priority, and those ritual and ceremony methods are secondary. At least I hope if my father still know, he’ll accept that or else I’ll be damned :P
When I was standing in front of his urn, I was thinking about the past and the things that happened. Then my sisters were talking about my dad, the things he has done few months prior to his sudden heart-attack, and I was listening carefully. They had the luxury to spend the time with him during his last few months, and I was so far away in the U.S.

And then it striked me like a thunder. I didn’t know I longed to hear about all these things about my dad, the things he has done, even minor ones, and I didn’t know I miss him so much. I do miss him, but I didn’t know I miss him to such an extend that I wished I could turn back the clock and re-do many of the things we had done together when I was a kid.

Unfortunately, he left without a word and today, I still miss him.

::: Diamond Water :::

Okay, I am officially filing a complaint against Diamond Water on BlogSpot Press.

To whoever that doesn’t know, Diamond Water is currently running a rental scheme that will allow you to own the infamous Diamond Water Filter for only RM60 per month. Once you rent it for 5 years, the whole filter is yours and during this 5 years, they are going to change the filters for you cost-free (yeah right, its already charged when you rent it).

But you have to be really careful. There is no writings that will give all these details, but I am offering the details through first-hand experience to you to warn you of this so-called Diamond Water RM60 per month installment scam… er… I mean scheme.

First of all, the claim is totally false. The truth is that you have to charge the first one year full amount on your credit card, and then you pay the interest-free installment to your credit card company, which is arranged by Diamond Water.

Oh and you have to be so careful with the so-called “Free Trial”. Apparently there is a scam scheme where you can pay RM499 to try the water filter system for 3 months, and at the end of 3 months, they will take back the water filter system and pay you back the RM499, one month later.

And then, there is another “Free Trial” period which is widely and totally wrongfully interpreted by the Diamond Water Agents. Under this scam… er… scheme, they will install the water filter system upfront, and they will get your credit card details. They will tell you that if you are using cash, there’s a 3 months trial period but using credit card, the trial period is extended to 4 months. Unfortunately, this is not what I found out after helping out a friend who started doing Diamond Water [refer to this blog and this blog].

The truth is that when they install it for you and ask for your credit card details, they are charging RM1300 on your credit card already and then, they will arrange the widely known zero-interest-installment-plan for you. So at the end you are paying RM108 per month. So much so for the RM60 per month installment!

This is one of the false claims from Diamond Water. They said RM60 per month installment and that’s the second year onwards, and they are excluding the first year as whole!

Well, after much investigation, only then I found out the real trial plan (the RM499 3 months trial plan) and this another “Free Trial” period is just that under the 4 months, you get a satisfaction guaranteed and if you are not happy with the water filter system, you can cancel it within 4 months, and you can get your refund.

After this misfortune for me to see the real color of a so-called friend, I felt like I was ripped off for good so I decided to refund. Guess what? I cancelled the damn plan within 2 days, and I was informed that I need to wait for one month before they can process the reversal. Oh yeah, guess what again? Citibank is charging me on interest already because apparently Diamond Water, which is under UEP, has not initiated the reversal process. Did I mention that when withholding the fund for one month, Diamond Water is entitle to their interest as well? That translates to they can enjoy a small sum of money when they hold this money for one month. Otherwise the bank will not pay them.

After consulting with Citibank and a friend from OCBS Bank, I was informed that the reversal normally take about 3 days to process, and the bank will need 5 working days to complete the reversal on their end.

So I don’t understand how this Diamond Water can say they will need a month. I cancel it, you refund me, its so straight forward, no?

What prompted me to file this complain is that after calling Citibank today, I found out that Diamond Water has not initiated the reversal process, and I am charged with a high interest because this will be cancel of to be normal retail purchase (no more zero interest since Diamond Water will not do it), and that pisses me off greatly.

Besides, we have been drinking chlorinated water for so fucking long, and our ancestors have been drinking the same water, and yet they are as healthy as ever, so why do we need Diamond Water? Oh yeah, I must mention that my Fluffy (just in case you don’t know, its my dog) started to have constipation and his shit is as hard as diamond after drinking Diamond Water.

So guys, please help me to spread the word as far as you can, and avoid Diamond Water at all cost. It’s not worth your time. You are better off buying something else.

::: that says it all :::

I was reading Allen’s blog and saw this….

“LOVE YOUR JOB, BUT NEVER FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR COMPANY BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE COMPANY STOPS LOVING YOU” — Narayana Murthy

That says it all… Cheers my friends.
